Holidays can be a great time with friends and family but, as is more often the case, they can be a very stressful time of being forced in a room with people you might not otherwise spend time with. One of the things a lot of people don't know about Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is that we have the tools that can really make a difference in stressful times. Acupuncture is fantastic at reducing stress and can be phenomenally effective in the long run to help keep immunity low and the immune system in good shape. There's nothing like a nasty cold to enhance the holiday experience. Additionally, herbal formulas can be put in a purse or pocket and taken as needed for particularly stressful times. Call us at 458-2442 or e-mail us at contact@ahha-clinic.com to find out more.
Hello Family, Friends, & Patients!
True or False: People get more colds and Flu when it is cold outside. You might be surprised to know that when your grandma told you do dress warmly or you would catch your death of cold that she wasn't as far off as you think. Modern research has shown that certain viruses multiply better when your body is slightly cooler than normal. This is why the body's response to an infection is often a fever. Find out more about this ailment that effects almost everyone from time to time by going to our website and reading our article about colds, flu and allergies and what TCM can do for you when you get one of them.

Happy Chinese New Year! February 17th, 2007 the year of the Pig/Boar begins! Those born in 1971, 1959, and 1947 (for the most part) fall under this Chinese Zodiac sign and here's what fengshuitimes.com has to say about you and the upcoming year.
"Eat, drink, and be merry. Then do it again. The year of the Pig begins on the new moon of February 17th, 2007. (This exact new Moon occurs at 8:38 PM Pacific Time.) Pig year is a time of fun and self indulgence. Ease and enjoyment of life are valued more than power and status. We can be kinder to each other in our everyday interactions and feel little need for competition. Harmony, peace, understanding, and good fellowship are valued. Money is spent on luxuries such as extravagant vacations, sumptuous meals, and fine clothing. It is easy to become content and satisfied, ignoring the bills that accumulate during Pig year. The following Rat year 2008 will be time to face reality after Pig year indulgences, so enjoy now while the enjoying is good.
People born in Pig year are kind, honest, peaceful in nature and dislike arguments or conflicts. They are optimistic, fun-loving, and don’t hide their emotions. Pig people are creative and have exquisite taste in the arts. Contrary to popular misconceptions, Pig is not a slob. Pigs pay much attention to hygiene and appearances. Pigs make great friends because of their because of their capacity for giving and forgiving.
One challenging trait for Pig people is the tendency to be overly sensual and indulgent, especially with food and drink. Being artistic, Pigs can overspend on luxuries and be impractical about reality."
It sounds like everyone should be keeping a stash of Curin Wan nearby at all times! (That was dorky acupuncturist humor!) In any case, we hope this year is happy, healthy, and successful for all of you.
Yours in health,
Heather & Dave
